So, yesterday I received my motoQ. It’s pretty cool actually. It just came out in Calgary about 2 weeks ago. The University got it for me so I can have a cell phone. But of course, motoQ is more than just a cell phone, it is also a PDA. I can receive emails, text and surf the web (other than just making and receiving calls).
I’ve been pretty occupied with work lately. We just had our annual master power shutdown. We turned off everything (and I mean everything) in the server room to have a problem electric circuit breaker replaced. The shutdown went very well, but the powering up went a little hectic. Keep in mind some of these servers had not been turned off since the day it was turned on; therefore when we powered them back up, some of them had problems. All in all, everything went okay.
One of my VMware ESX blade server’s local disk has an amber light after the power shutdown. This is not good considering the week before we had the same problem on our Oracle Calendar server and when one of the tech (a certified tech from one of the biggest blade manufacturers, hint – they have a two letter acronym) pulled the supposed-to-be-hot-swapable drive, it destroyed the RAID group and we lost all the data. So these past few days, I have been busy setting up a new ESX server to move all the VMs from the ‘amber’ blade to a new one. So please pray for me that the ‘amber’ blade doesn’t fail while I’m setting the other one up.
