That’s what I installed today in one of our ESX servers. Installation was quite simple, we just followed the wizard. Of course there are some configuration we needed to configure manually (e.g. the filesystems structure, virtual switches, nic teaming, etc) but it was a fairly easy install (not any different than the previous installs). We decided to reload our server to this version because this is the latest version (other than ESX 3 – anticipated release of end of June) that VMware has out there. Also because of the security vulnerability that ESX 2.5.2 has.

I love this virtual infrastructure stuff, it’s great. I have to take my VCP test one of these days. I took the course back in April but haven’t got a chance to even study for the test. They are now offering a course for the new version, ESX 3. I am definitely interested in taking the course, I’ll have to see how much it costs tho (and whether I can spare the time to take the course since my scope of responsibilities had changed – 1/3 Windows, 1/3 VMware and 1/3 Linux). Okay now I”m just ranting away, but that’s what a blog is for.

Something to say?
