Flight Update – Hong Kong

Posted by jandie on July 4th, 2007

We just arrived in Hong Kong.  Our flight was early and we arrived here at about 06:15 am (scheduled to arrive in Hong Kong at 06:55 am).  I think I can say right now that the highlight of our trip so far was our trip from Vancouver to Hong Kong – our tickets were bumped from Economy class to Business.  WE FLEW BUSINESS CLASS THE WHOLE WAY … 13 HOURS OF GOODNESS!!  That was kool, the seats reclined, plenty of room to move around, good food (starter, main, dessert and all)… it was Grrrreeeaaaatttt!!!   Well we have about another hour or so until our next flight to Jakarta (the last one for this trip down).  I (or Christine) will be updating this as soon as we can (pending internet connection).

We are still in Canada…. darnit!

Well, just a quick update on where we are and what we are up to… (You know Johan, he can find an internet connection anywhere!!! ^_^). Well, we are now in Vancouver airport waiting for our flight to HK. We still have about an hour wait. We left Calgary about an hour late and arrived here at 1 am (we were supposed to arrive at 12:15 am our time!). We are getting pretty tired but Johan and I have made a couple of friends on the way…. one of them is 14 years old and the other one is 11 years old… Yeah Johan really clicked with them because they talked about ANIME the whole time!!! Anyways, we are anxiously anticipating a long 13 hour flight to HK and then a 3 hour stop over in HK and then INDONESIA here we come!!! That’ll be another 4 hours but hey I think it is well worth the time!!!

It was really exciting for me to go on the plane again since the last time I have been on a plane was 10 years ago! So it was sooooo cool!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that’s not even the destination of our trip! Well, bye for now and don’t worry, I am sure Johan will be sure to update all of you, if I don’t….

Quick Update (Before Our Holidays)

Posted by jandie on July 3rd, 2007

Just thought I’d write something before we leave for holidays to Indonesia.

We bought the house (see last blog), we are now a proud owner of a house in Calgary. That being said, we are now BROKE! I will post up a time-lapse picture of the house (as much as I can cause we’ll be gone for about 6 weeks). At this time, the foundation and the base framing is done.

We will be going to Jakarta, Indonesia today. The flight from Vancouver to Hong Kong is the longest flight of our trip – 13 hours. We will be arriving in Jakarta on Thursday afternoon, hopefully somebody will pick us up ;-) .

Anyways, hopefully I’ll be able to update this blog while we’re down there – so keep checking back.

Have a great summer!!

A House, hopefully our new Home…

Hi all,

Just a quick update, we recently looked around for a house in NW Calgary. We finally found one (it will need to be built though – ready in approx. 6-7 mo.) up in Panorama Hills and we pretty much bought it (99.9% – we’ll let you know next week if/when it reaches 100%). From what we saw (the show home out in Cochrane,Our Future Home the floor plans and the blueprints), we really like it. It is a “spec” home, so we do not have a say on “designing” it – everything is already decided (that could be a good or a bad thing). They will start the build hopefully this coming Tuesday (putting a hole in the ground). I’m also planning to make a time-lapse picture (taken every week, except for the time when we are on holidays) of the development of the house, from a hole in the ground all the way to possession date. We’ll keep you up to date!

Exactly 4 months to go!

Posted by candie on March 3rd, 2007

I know it’s still pretty early and there’s still 4 months left before we leave, but I can’t wait because we’re going to Indonesia! Johan and I have already purchased our plane tickets and are leaving on July 3. We are planning to stay there for about 5 weeks and we are coming back August 11. “Well, what about Rex?, I can hear some of you asking. We’re lucky because my sister Monica will be living at our place during the time we are on vacation. I know that Johan’s excited to go back home and see his family. It’s been quite a long time since he has seen his relatives and friends. For me, it will be nice to finally meet the rest of the other side of the family (since Johan has had the chance to have met my BIG side of the family since we got married). Well, I am very excited and kind of nervous as well because I really have not traveled overseas since I was 5 years old. Anyways, I know it’ll be an awesome trip, and if I could have it my way, I would choose to go NOW than wait 4 long months =P!!!!

Pink Panthers Update – Game 3

Posted by jandie on February 8th, 2007

Okie… since Richard said in his email (to everybody) that I will be updating the blog on each of our soccer outings, I reckon I better start then.

Last Tuesday we won our first game. The final score was 2-1 – Yay! The other team scored the first goal, it was a messy/lucky goal.. but still. We retaliated by getting them back with a “practiced” roll-in. Andre passed the ball all the way from our end of the field, Richard (the Golden Foot) lightly tapped the ball with the inside of his foot and deflected it into the back of the net – it was wicked sick!! He didn’t even need to see where the net (or where the goalie) was, it’s like he has eyes in the back of his head.

The game was pretty intense, both teams had plenty of chances to score but…. about 5 minutes before the game ended…. Golden Foot did it again!! Marcelo was at the halfway line, he got the ball, he saw Goldie in front of the 5 yard box, Marcelo then flicked the ball, the ball bounced once then BAM!! Goldie kicked the ball while it was still in the air and it found the back of the net (or tarp)… and the crowd (Carol and Christine) went nuts.. “woooo..!!! yay..!!!!”

All of us played hard that night and it was a well deserved win! Let’s keep it up guys!!!
