We finally got our wedding picture negatives (digital format – DVD) from Terry. We will be uploading some pictures up into our gallery… stay tuned!
Dear diary,
The Team picked on me again tonight … – sniff.. sniff.. (that’s for you Pink Panthers… !!)
We (Pink Panthers) played our last game of the season tonight and we won (5 -3 against The Slackers). Next season is comin’ up and I’ll try to update the Sports section a little more often. Picture of the team is coming as well – Doug hurry up and send me that picture!
On New Year’s Eve, Johan and I went over to my parents place to eat our traditional dumpling and sweet rice soup (Dougg-man-doo- guk). It was MMmmmm good!!! My mom made the dumpling filling and we (yes, even Johan ^_^) made the dumplings. After supper, we taught my dad how to play Texas Hold’em Poker. It was fun but we lost $20. All in all, it was a quiet and pretty laid back countdown to the New Year. So HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVERYONE!!!
Daryl (my coworker) told me yesterday that a customer rep at EB Games told him that a shipment of Wii
should arrive at EB Games (Market Mall) at 11:00AM either today or tomorrow. Derek (another coworker of mine) and I went to EB Games this morning to check it out. We were pretty sure that we weren’t going to get one (sold out). When we got there, there was about 3 other people in front of us – so really there was no line-up. We asked the customer rep whether they had any Wiis and he said they had 9 of them. So now the more important question was “how many do you have left?” He answered “five.” Sweet… Derek and I stood in line, I bought one and Derek bought one for Dave. However; Derek was pretty bummed out because he was looking for an extra nunchuk (cause he purchased a Wii back on the 29th). Anyways, we now have a Wii, but… we are going to let our friend Kia and Ken buy it out from us. We don’t really need it (we don’t have time nowadays to play it) and besides we would rather see the excitement in Ethan’s face when he receives it. Well that’s my excitement for the day.
Merry Christmas (Happy Holidays) & Happy New Year Everybody!!!! I know.. I know I’m late… oh well. Seriously… Merry Christmas (Happy Holidays) & Merry Christmas to all of you! Hope you had a great Christmas break!
Wow, 2 postings in 2 days. I created a couple of search plugins for Firefox (right click and “save link as”/”save target as” to download).
To install these plugins you will need to:
Copy these files to your C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[gibberish numbers and letters].default\searchplugins\.
They are not perfect, but it works. uofc.xml uses word suggestions from google, not from U of C. uofc_dir.xml uses URL TYPE=text/html instead of the application/x-www-form-urlencoded listed in the original HTML page. If anybody can fix this, please let me know – Thanks.
Wow.. it’s almost 3.5 months now since my last blog. I do have a lot to write but I’m not gonna, just some highlights. Hmmm.. let’s see; there was Kyle and Courtney’s wedding (August 19, 2006). We had a blast at their wedding, it was a very beautiful wedding. Christine is officially a teacher! She teaches grade 1 at Cardinal Newman School. She loves teaching and she loves her class. She is very very very busy; everybody says “the first year is the toughest year” and we agree. For some reason I can’t remember anything else, I am certain a lot had happened since.
Last week was crazy busy. I had a big project at work; VI3 Upgrade. We had to upgrade our current VM environment from ESX 2.5.3 to the new ESX 3.0.1. We had about a week to upgrade and migrate approx. 80 VMs. There were some challenges but we got through it. We had a Dell System Engineer who was here to help us with the migration as part of their Professional Service. We (Wendy – my co-worker, Bill – Dell System Engineer, and I) spent at least 14-16 hours everyday for about 6 days. At the end, the project was a success. Given the time line that we had, we were able to overcome the challenges and we pulled through as a team. Of course we had help from other groups within IT; the storage group, networking group, client managers, etc. If you are reading this, I want to thank you for all of your help and support! We have a very good team here in UCIT, supporting each other’s needs and always being there for one another. Also a big thank you to Bill for helping us with the big migration/upgrade and his family for letting us borrow Bill for the 10 days he was in Calgary. I also want to thank my lovely wife Christine for always supporting and being there for me during that stressful week. Luckily, Christine was also busy last week. We didn’t really see too much of each other, but we were also occupied with our work. Now, I’m not trying to convert anybody, but my faith in God also helped me throughout the busy week. Thank you Lord.
Anyways, I just wanted to let that out. I was going to write details about the VI3 upgrade, but I’ll save that for another blog. Oh ya, I also joined an indoor soccer league, we play every Tuesdays and our team is called the Pink Panthers.
So we finally found and purchased a portable air conditioner. Our place gets unbreathably hot on hot summer days and it is unbearable!!! So Johan and I have been looking for a portable air conditioner for a few weeks now, but now since we found the only one at Costco, we thought it was meant to be. So we bought it!!! It takes up quite a bit of space in our bedroom but it’s all good!!! It has been awesome in our place but too bad we haven’t had the need to use it a lot!!! HA HA!!! Oh well… still worth it!
It’s official, I am a Permanent Resident of Canada. We went to the interview yesterday and it went very well. Actually it was pretty short, the waiting for the interview took longer than the interview itself. The Immigration officer asked three questions; Are you still married? Are you on welfare? Have you been convicted for any crime? Then we initialed a few statements and signed a piece a paper…. and Voila!! Well I’m glad that is done and over with; I don’t have to worry about extending my work permit any more.
